Giuseppe RASPANTI
Giuseppe Raspanti was born in Firenzuola (Firenze) on April 8, 1948. When he was young he liked to woodworks, and he began to learn techniques of joinery and cabinet works. His interest in bow making was inspired by his wife Miriam Sadun, who is violin concert performer and teacher in Florence Conservatory of Music. Beginning in the 1985s, Vittorio Gavioli (very fine bow maker in Bologna) initiated him the art of bow making. After a testing period, during that he studied and learned many things about French bows, before and after Tourte period, and since then he started to make baroque, classic and modern bows, using a great quality of materials and making a research work concerning the sound. Since many years avails himself of the advises of M° Lucchi of Cremona. He furnished many musicians, teachers and students, with his bows in Italy and in the foreign countries, having very good remarks about his works. Requested by teachers, he provided with his baroque bows the Conservatory of Music of Florence and of L'Aquila. He makes all kind of work concerning the restoration of old and not old bows, like the to re-hair them, to repair the stick or the frog and the button of the bow. He is Member of the Tuscany Association of Violin and Bow Makers.
